Angry Mother

Jason walked into the kitchen to find Tatum cowering under the table. When Jason asked what he was doing he said, in his best scared voice... "I'm hiding from my angry mother!"

The intercessor

We have been asking God to send Emma a friend, she is getting to that age. One night during their prayers Jason brought up the subject again and this is how it went:
J: Dear God, please send Emma a friend
E: (whisper) Daddy, tell him that she should be three
J: ...a friend who is three years old
E: (whisper) Daddy, tell Him so we can play dress up
J: ...so that they can play dress up together...We ask that you would send a friend Emma's way. Amen.
E: (chin quivering with big tears in her eyes)
J: What's wrong baby?!
E: (bursting into tears) You told God you were going to send me away!!

Time well spent

It's so wonderful when you get to share something you love with the people you love...
...skipping rocks...

...tire swings...

...no phones, no TV's, no internet...

...just family and time...
...and of course the trip to the river is never complete without a big fat breakfast at Billy Ivy's in downtown London America!

Precious sleep

Sleep can be a rare commodity around here. Thank goodness we had all gone to bed early last night because, for some reason, Mr TC woke up at 5am. Jason , being the fantastic daddy that he is, layed on the couch and rubbed his back until he drifted back to sleep for another hour. The deep thumping of Jason's heart in that great big chest of his can put anyone to sleep.

12 years of ...

...My how we've changed...from 2 individuals to 1 unit; from spending in secret to budgeting together; from dinner and a movie to pizza and a rental; from romance to flannel pajamas, from sleeping in to sleeping little, from 600 sq feet and a dog to 3 bedrooms, 3 children, and 2 dogs; from dreaming about the future to watching our children dream; from Beep & Jase to Mommy and Daddy; from loving to liking to putting up with and back to liking and loving even more; from fighting dirty to fighting fair; from red sports car with bucket seats to mom mobile with carseats; from infatuation to deep love and respect; from now until forever; my one true love, the man of my dreams, the father of my children, the one I will grow old with, the one I can depend on for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer. Here's to forever...

DD's hands

I can just barely remember what my grandmother's hands looked like when I was a child. Hers were the hands that baked cookies with me, brushed my hair, cooked, cleaned, wrote with such beautiful penmanship, were always ready with a hug, prayed. These are the hands of my mother-in-law, Jason's mother. These are the hands that my children will remember. These hands for them are always gentle, usually busy, always ready for a hug or a dance, strong, and open. In my house, I have a pair of tiny work gloves, well worn, which belonged to Jason when he was a young child. I can imagine that she used as much care to place each finger in the glove with Jason as she did with Tennison. Does she remember what that was like? We so many times miss the moments that become vague memories. These hands hold a rich history and my children get to be part of that. I wonder what memories they will hold of their Grandma DD?

Way back Wednesday

Can you guess who this baby looks like? I was thinking that TC looked like Jason when he was a baby but after closer investigation, he has a bit of my cuteness after all.
