FINALLY! After weeks of looking at his tooth wiggle and jiggle and after weeks of T's insistence that his tooth doesn't want me to touch it and after one quick push and Dad's threat with the pliers; Tatum has finally pulled his own tooth out. He waited so long that the new tooth is already poking out of his gums. Now he talks with a dramatic lisp.

Sick Day
After a rough night and a low fever, Tatum got the day off. For the most part he acted like he felt pretty good but this is how I knew...when I tried to take this picture, instead of hamming it up for the camara like he usually does, he put the book in front of his face and told me "no more pictures". And then he didn't even ask to see it after I was done. He must be feeling worse than I thought!

In under 60 seconds
This is what my 20 month old can accomplish in under 60 seconds:
...pull 15 boxes of shoes off my shelves and de-box them
...pour a whole shaker of salt all over the couch, floor, rug
...pull all the books off the shelf and rip out the pages of at least one
...crawl out of the bathtub and pee on the bathroom and hall floor
...open the child proof latch under the kitchen sink, retrieve the windex, and spray the walls, doors, floor, and himself
...shake the torchierre lamp and knock at least one breakable thing off the wall into pieces
...open the pantry door and pour cereal all over the kitchen floor
...unpack the pajama, sock and underwear drawer in Emma's room
...find a pile of dog poop outside and eat a piece
...turn on the outside water faucet and soak himself in 45 degree weather
...bite so hard it leaves marks for the rest of the day
...escape out of an open door and run into the neighbors garage and find a golf club to swing at someone
...realize I have forgotten to close my office door and dryerase the walls, chairs, floor
...realize I have forgotten to close my bedroom door and pull out every drawer in my jewelry armoire and scatter 15 years worth of jewelry all over the floor
...realize I have forgotten to close the bathroom door and fill the toilet with toilet paper and plastic farm animals
So I ask you...When is a mom EVER supposed to go the the bathroom?

Sesame Street Live
It was one of those days when I had my act together so we all loaded up to go to the library for the first time in probably a year. Most of the faces were new, I didn't recognize any of the kids but I did see one of the library originals, Martha. We started talking and she mentioned that Sesame Street Live was in town again and she had blocked off a section. The only problem is that she couldn't find enough people to go. She needed 4 more people and the show was tomorrow. This is what is great about staying at home, spontanaity. Why not? It's just $10/ticket and what else do we have to do on Valentine's friday? In fact, why don't we invite our friend Brinly to go along, because I don't have enough children on my own. So we all loaded up and Martha and her friend followed me (I know, scary huh) to the Erwin center in Austin. Even Tennison sat through the show without wiggling...much. So, it was a good day to go to the library. Maybe we'll try it again next year.

Wonder
Lately, every morning, Emma runs to the front door to see the "rainbows". She stands there, running her fingers along the wall, tracing the light. She is in awe of the colors. When was the last time I stopped to be in awe of the mystery of a prism...the perfect colors that are so consistent in every rainbow of light...and since it's me, I have to go there. I think back to the first rainbow ever...the sorrow and destruction of sin...consequences of disobedience...new beginnings...a fresh start...a promise that will never be broken...a God who is waiting expectantly for His ultimate plan to come to fruition..."the world waits while His heart aches to realize the dream".
I can't help but see God chuckle and His heart be warmed by the innocent awe and adoration of His creation. I need to stop and notice His masterpieces more often...because they grow up so quickly.

Cooperation
This is a typical occurance around here...Emma, acting like a good big sister should, more than willing to share what she is doing...Tennison, wanting it all for himself...
and throwing a big fit until he gets his way...Emma still trying to include herself in his play, much to his protest most of the time...
Mom, finally intervening to help diffuse the situation before someone gets bite marks. It's hard being a playmate to a untrained monkey.

Good point...
Lately, Emma has been saying "yesternight" instead of "last night", which brings up a good point. We say "yesterday", so why not "yesternight"?
